The Buckminster Fuller Project Pavilion
Milano Arch Week
As part of Milan Arch Week, The Buckminster Fuller Project. Geodesic Visions: Rethinking Structure, Material, and Meaning opens on October 29th at 5:00 PM.
Promoted by the Department of Architecture, Construction Engineering, and Built Environment (DABC) at the Politecnico di Milano, Material Balance Research, and ATI Project.
The wooden Basketry Tensegrity Geodesic Dome, based on R. Buckminster Fuller's original design, is reinterpreted using digital techniques and sustainable materials.
The project explores the dialogue between structure and fabric, thanks to a knitted skin made from recycled yarns and computational models.
The initiative involves the Master's program "Material Balance Design. Digital techniques and Circular innovations in Architecture" and the ATI Project studio.
Deacon Marvel is an architect, a Harvard GSD graduate, principal of Deacon Marvel Architects, based in Boston and affiliated with the American Institute of Architects.
